World Federation of Friends of Museums - Vice President for South America

Sofía Weil Speroni has been a member of Friends of Museums for over 20 years and works in cultural institutions by promoting the relationship between museums and citizens. In 2001, she cofounded the Friends Association of the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), where she worked in the development of resources area. She also worked in collection acquisition, adding 80 new artworks to MALBA’s collection. Since 2012 she has been a board member of the Association of Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts. She is currently coordinating the “Young Friend” program, which attracted over 300 new young members in one year. From 2004 to date, she has been a board member of the Argentine Federation of Friends of Museums, which collaborates with 120 friends associations nationwide by providing them with training and management expertise. In 2012, she was elected vice president for South America at the World Federation of Friends of Museums, which brings together friends from over 100 countries and 2 million volunteers. Her work as a vice president strengthened collaboration among the friends of Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. She also collaborates with the German Association of Friends of Museums, and has participated in international congresses of Friends of Museums in Buenos Aires, Jerusalem, Genova and Berlin.
