“MÚLTIPLE” IN ARGENTINA
Published 24-04-2015
From 14th until 18th April the workshop “Múltiple – Layering for preexisting exhibits” took place at the Museo Histórico Regional de la Colonia San José, Entre Ríos (Argentina). Fourteen museum professionals from Entre Ríos Province were selected through an open call. Members of MUS network, a group of museum professionals that participated in TyPA’s Lab on Museum Management in 2013, also joined the workshop. During five day of intense work participants were trained in designing new layers for existing exhibits, through the creation of interactive devices that foster to renew bonds with audiences. With a predominantly practical approach, they worked in groups on different areas of the exhibition, designing prototypes that shall provide new gateways to some core ideas of the exhibit. The workshop also expected to contribute to the creation of new networks and opportunities of collaboration for Entre Ríos museum professionals. Activities were led by Tam Muro (ARG) together with Elaine Heumann Gurian (USA), consultant in museums and James Volkert (USA), two experts in exhibition design that will return to Argentina in September to attend Reimagining the Museums as speakers. The whole process has been registered and the results will be published so that the experience can be shared with other museums in the Americas. The workshop was organized by Fundación TyPA and MUS, professional network of participants of TyPA’s Lab on Museum Management 2013, with the support of Fundación Nuevo Banco de Entre Ríos, Municipio de San José and the USA Embassy in Argentina.
