Esmeralda Ortiz Cuero 

Esmeralda Ortiz Cuero is the director of the del Museo Comunitario de Mulaló, in the municipality of Yumbo, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the Colombian Community Museums Network and she is a part of the Coordinating Counsel of the Community Museum Network of America.

Ortiz has a master's degree in History from the Universidad del Valle and she is the legal representative of the Afro-descendant community in Mulaló. Her research interests are focused on ethno-education, community museums, and ethnic and territorial rights.

From the Museo Comunitario de Mulaló she works for the preservation of cultural traditions and practices of Mulaló.
