Martha Nubia Bello
Is a Social Worker from the National University of Colombia, where she has served as Associate Professor since 1991; MA in Political Science (University of Los Andes) and researcher at the Center of Historical Memory (CNMH) since its beginning in 2007. Her research is linked to the processes of reconstruction of memory, social movements, Human Rights and specific emphasis on the psychosocial impacts of forced displacement. She has participated in over 25 researches with the Center of Historical Memory, the National University of Colombia, the Swiss Embassy, the Ministry of Social Protection, and other organizations. She is a member of Alpha Research Network “Migration, Exclusion and Human Rights” and also part of the National Research on Forced Displacement Network. She is author and co-author of 17 books. Between 1998 and 2001 she was professor at the Universidad de los Andes. Previously she worked as a Research Consultant for the Institute of Culture and Tourism, of the Fund for Solidarity and Social Emergency, Presidency of Colombia and for the Inter-Congregational Commission for Justice and Peace. Martha Nubia has received several awards for her academic work, among them the Academic Merit Medal awarded the National University of Colombia in 2001 and the Distinction for outstanding teaching, from the same university in 1997, 1998 and 1999.
