Cofounder of Museo Q
Michael Andrés Forero Parra
Michael Andrés Forero Parra is a museum project manager with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Minor in Fine Arts from Los Andes University (Colombia) and an MA with Merit in Art Museum and Gallery Studies from the University of Leicester (UK).
He is cofounder of Museo Q, a non-profit organisation, which aims to recover and display histories and memories of LGBTQ+ people as an essential part of the national story. Museo Q started activities at the end of 2014 and since then it has participated in three academic forums, it has produced two exhibitions (one of them awarded by Bogota’s Art Institute), and it has developed free talks and events.Recently, Museo Q has been reviewed by Revista Arcadia, the Museological Review, and radio programme Museos en Contexto.
In addition, Michael Andrés manages the architectural development of the forthcoming National Museum of Memory in Bogota. He has published in Colombia, Mexico, the UK, and the Netherlands, and has received scholarships from Colfuturo, Santander Bank, Leicester University, the Smithsonian Institute (Chaos at the Museum, Buenos Aires), Tate Modern (Tate Intensive, London), and TyPA Foundation. He is member of ICOM Colombia and ICAMT.
