Silvia Singer
Silvia Singer has been a museum professional for almost 30 years. Since 2001, she has directed the design and development of The Interactive Museum of Economics (MIDE), the first of its kind in the world. MIDE has been recognized with 11 national and international awards. Under Singer’s leadership, MIDE has become a successful institution, considered one of the best museums in Mexico. With a background in biology and ecology, she has played many roles in the national and international museum arena, including director of the Science Museums of Mexico’s National Autonomous University, conceptual designer for “Espiral de la Vida” at the Natural History Museum for San Juan Puerto Rico and the Natural History Museum in Mexico City. She was part of the team that founded Papalote, the celebrated children’s museum in Mexico City, where she designed her first iconic exhibit, “The Tree Called Ramón.” Formerly Singer worked as a science communicator and science teacher. She has helped advance the museum field by serving as a board member of the Association of Science and Technology Centers and the American Alliance of Museums, president of ICOM Mexico, secretary of CECA/ICOM and, most recently, founder of the International Federation of Finance Museums.
