Graciela de la Torre is currently the General Director of Visual Arts at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and of the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC). She is also responsible for MUCA Roma and the Museo Experimental El Eco.
She was Director of the Museo Nacional de San Carlos, where she created the first formal educational services for art museums. She was Director of the Museo Nacional de Arte, where she coordinated the renovation process known as “Munal 2000”.
She has developed activities related to teaching at La Esmeralda, the Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA), the Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia (ENAH) and the UNAM, and taught national workshops related to museology and cultural education and marketing.
Member of the International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art (CIMAM), the American Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD) and the International Women’s Forum Mexico (IWF). Representative in Mexico of the International Museum Institute (IMI), a program developed by University of Southern California (USC) and UNAM. She is a member of the Federation of Friends of Museums, Ciudad de México and Guadalajara chapters. Member of the Instituto de Liderazgo en Museos (ILM), where she also serves as Board Secretary.
Winner of the first place in the First Art Critics Contest, organized by the UIA, and the ICOM Award (International Council of Museums). The Fundación Olga y Rufino Tamayo awarded her the “SUMA09” recognition “for her dedicated work in favor of contemporary art in Mexico”.
