Maurício Panella

Maurício Panella is an anthropologist and multimedia artist. He is dedicated to the creation of artistic projects and the coordination of trans-pedagogical programs that invite people to experience immersion processes with their stories and places. He is currently the Founder, Director and Coordinator of Cultural Programs and Projects in Casadágua – Instituto e Estúdio de Criação.

He expands his connection to the museum universe by creating installations with laboratory, collaborative and itinerant formats. Since 2010 he has been working on art mapping projects with giant maps, inviting audiences to reimagine their appropriation spaces. He is the Coordinator of the Museu da Memória Afetiva da Cidade de Natal, which shares a participatory digital platform with the Museo de Arte Moderno in Medellin.

He obtained his Doctorate in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Granada, occasion in which he created the Asociación Socio-Cultural Mundurukum, where he coordinated programs on art and interculturality with gypsy and immigrant groups. The methodologies and products created in Brazil and Spain generated another challenge: coordinating the “Programa de Difusión del Patrimonio en Video y TV” together with the Universidad Veracruzana Intercultural in Mexico.

His current challenge is coordinating the Jornada no Bosque Program within the Parque das Dunas, where visitors can learn about biodiversity through a gamified museum experience that uses augmented and virtual reality as resources.
