Néstor García Canclini holds a PhD in Philosophy from the Université de Paris and the Universidad de La Plata, is a Distinguished Professor of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana de México and Researcher Emeritus of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores. He has been a visiting professor at the Universities of Austin, Duke, New York, Stanford, Barcelona, Buenos Aires and São Paulo. He received the Guggenheim scholarship and several international awards for his books, including the Book Award of the Latin American Studies Association for Culturas híbridas. Estrategias para entrar y salir de la modernidad (Ed. Grijalbo, 1989). His main books have been translated into English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Korean. In 2014 he received the National Prize for Science and Arts in Mexico. He is currently studying the relationships between anthropology and aesthetics, reading, creative strategies and cultural networks of young people. His most recent book is a fiction book, Pistas Falsas (Ed. Sexto Piso, 2018).
