Graciela Schmilchuk

Graciela Schmilchuk is a Senior Researcher at the Centro Nacional de Investigación, Documentación e Información de Artes Plásticas (CENIDIAP) of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA). She studied Art History and Communication. She worked as a UNESCO consultant in Paris for the International Commission for the Study of Communication Problems. She founded the educational services at the Museo de Arte Moderno (MAM), Mexico, in 1981, as well as the Communication in Museums chair in several institutions. Her interest has focused on the public dimension of art. She has carried out studies of artistic reception and empirical museum visitor studies, from which she develops analysis of communication processes within museums and reflects upon heritage management. She also explores the problem of art in public spaces.
