Miriam Barrón García

Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Faculty of Arts and Design at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), she is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Critical Theory.

Since 2008 she has been part of the educational team at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC), first responsible for inter-institutional alliances and later as Head of Critical Museology in the Education Program, where she designs, manages and develops projects that bring the museum closer to communities outside its walls.

She collaborated in the creation of the Red de Pedagogías Empáticas in Ciudad de México and the Red Iberoamericana de Pedagogías Empáticas, a network with nodes in Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile and Spain that promotes collaborative processes in projects that connect education, contemporary art and social action.

Since 2005, she gives workshops, courses and seminars on art education to diverse audiences and institutions.

She is interested in reflecting upon non-formal learning practices in museums and the relationship between art and education, as well as questioning accepted work formats as a form of self-assessment to nurture our daily work.
